Who Is Lucas Barak?
Lucas (lyoo' cass; light-giving ): The name Luke occurs three times in the New Testament-- (Colossians 4:14; 2 Timothy 4:11); Phle 1:24 --And probably in all three the third evangelist is the person spoken of.Barak (bay' rak; Thunder): The son of Abinoam (Judges 4:6). At the summons of Deborah he made war against Jabin.
Lucas Barak = Blinding Thunder
Height: 6' 6" (198.12 Centimeters)
Weight: 252 lbs (114.305 Kilograms)
Lucas is an homage to all the great professional wrestlers I've enjoyed watching over the years. His original design is meant to be cherubic, but later when he encounters a drastically life changing event he takes on a darker look.
Lucas employees the Desert Lion fighting style, which incorporates rapid slaps, throws, and grappling attacks meant to snap the bones and joints of his opponents. He too is a practitioner of the Armor of Light technique which is a method of conducting his kiprana in a constant circuit just below skin level, which maintains its integrity, protecting him from physical injury.
Lucas has had an infusion of dark energy into his being, giving him a specific insight into the minds and actions of his foes, an ability distinctly his among the Celestial rank.
This mini bio will be updated as more stories from Warrior Breed are published.

Who Is Lahmi Barzillai?
LAHMIla'-mi (lachmi; "warrior"): According to 1 Chronicles 20:5, the brother of Goliath of Gath.BARZILLAIbar-zil'-a-i, bar-zil'-i (barzillay; Berzelli, "man of iron"): A Meholathite, the father of Adriel (2 Samuel 21:8).
Lahmi Barzillai = Iron Warrior
Height: 5' 5" (165 Centimeters)
Weight: 162 lbs (72.5747 Kilograms)
Lahmi's character was inspired from a few sources but mainly by Ryu from Street Fighter and Gold Dragon from Oriental Heroes. His look is based on a Hawaiian classmate from college, but the more I drew him the darker his skin grew and the more ethnic his features became until he ended up looking very different from his original design. The main characteristic that stuck was his hair.
Lahmi employees the Golden Eagle fighting style, which incorporates unorthodox, acrobatic kicking attacks launched from aerial positions. He is also a practitioner of the Armor of Light technique which is a method of conducting his kiprana in a constant circuit just below skin level, which maintains its integrity, protecting him from physical injury.
Lahmi maintains higher levels of kiprana than his Celestial counterparts, and is able to use it effectively both in deadly applications as well as the healing arts. To date he is the only Celestial known to be able to do this.

Humble Beginnings
As I stated in the original entry, I wrote Warrior Breed in 1989. I mapped out all the stories that would make up its first run, and completed issue 1 in 1990.
Back then there was NO Photoshop. The standard printed comic book was on newsprint paper, with very basic coloring. Y'all remember how it looked, and if you don't here's a reminder.

I didn't want my story to be bogged down in a conventional look, but couldn't afford to print it in full color like Heavy Metal, so I decided to do it in b&w, but from photographed pages instead of gray scaled inks.
Printing was done from plates at that time. If you wanted full color pages 4 plates would have to be produced, one for each color and one for black. You paid for each plate, then for paper, cutting it, etc. 10 thousand units would run you about $4000.00 if you knew someone who could cut you a break. The cost for advertising, distribution and other costs were too much for me back then, so you never saw the first incarnation of this story, but that may have been for the best.

The storyline is roughly the same as what you'll see soon from the new issues, just with details updated for the times. Dagon is searching for the bloodstone to make him into a god, the celestial knights are dispatched to get people to safety before he leads them to their doom.
Later this week you'll be able to see the transition from marker and colored pencil art to photoshop renditions.
Thanks to the fine people at http://uncannycomicbookscans.blogspot.com/ for the scans from the 90's.
